K2K Badminton Tournament

The Badminton Training at PPR Kg Baru Hicom was a result of the community recognising the need for more youth-centric initiatives. The community initially did the training in the open-air courtyards within the PPR, utilising existing space that gathers children to interact and play. Led by coaches from J8 Autism Athletics, the initiatives evolved over the two years with later sessions held at a more conducive court nearby.

Urban Poverty and Communities in High Rise Strata Public Housing: A Preliminary Survey Of Issues

This paper contributes to the series of engagements with the Malaysian Government on improving the efficacy of public service delivery to address urban poverty. It intersects with ongoing debates shaping a new development narrative for Malaysia as it transitions into a high-income economy. Central to this narrative is the concern about equity and the sharing of development benefits across the rich diversity of Malaysian society. While past accounts have emphasized Malaysia’s success in providing access to key development drivers such as infrastructure, health, and education services, the new model pays greater attention to the quality of growth issues as expressed in the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030.

Addressing malnutrition among children of public housing community

OP-ED: Food prices are rising, and while most of us think of what a cart-load at the local grocery is going to cost us, it exposes structural vulnerabilities that intensify malnutrition among children, especially among the B40 community. Malnutrition includes undernutrition (wasting, stunting, underweight), inadequate vitamins or minerals, obesity, and resulting diet-related non-communicable diseases.Malnutrition rates in Malaysia are a great concern because the effects are reflected in lower educational attainment and poorer health throughout life. In turn people will have higher healthcare costs and lower-level jobs, perpetuating poverty.
