George Town Baseline Study Report

In order to effectively implement the GTGP, it was necessary to take stock of George Town’s built environment and population to determine who lived in George Town, the livelihoods of George Town’s inhabitants as well as the uses and purposes of the city’s buildings. The baseline study would then provide crucial information for decision-makers particularly governmental stakeholders involved in urban planning and urban design. The Baseline Study Report was also used to formulate a Special Area Plan for George Town for the long-term management and development of the George Town World Heritage Site.
