Over the past 10 years, there have been numerous catalysts of urban regeneration in the city through a diverse range of stakeholders ranging from private, public and community groups. This includes the development of the creative and cultural ecosystem, and improving the state of conservation, accessibility and connectivity, and the public realm. Think City, together with Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, Jabatan Warisan Negara and Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, have created the Kuala Lumpur Creative and Cultural District strategic master plan (KLCCD). The purpose is to regenerate DTKL through a culture-based economy, and create inclusive, authentic, and viable creative and cultural places that knit together the historic fabric while enhancing liveability and visitor appeal. The Downtown Kuala Lumpur Grants Programme, supported by the Ministry of Finance, is rooted in the spirit of recovery as we strive simultaneously towards the creation of a liveable, vibrant and thriving hub. This grants programme is open to individuals and organisations with creativity and resilience as the core components towards the rejuvenation of DTKL.
