To support the creative ecosystem in JB, Think City is offering film grants to local, independent filmmakers.
This new public grant kicks off on June 20 in partnership with Rizhophora Ventures, Multimedia University, Johor Bahru International Festival City, Johor Tourism and Vidsee. Those interested are invited to submit applications online before July 20, 2017.
This programme will also offer training opportunities for filmmakers to enhance their skills through workshops on scriptwriting, production and exhibition, facilitated by Vidsee.
To be eligible for a film grant, the project must indicate the potential of expanding into a larger film; and showcase elements that can be used to boost Johor tourism. Grants are awarded based on location setting, choice of lead characters and representation of Johor cultural heritage and diversity.
An advisory panel of local, seasoned film critics, directors, writers and producers will be part of the selection process. Successful applicants will be invited to showcase their short films at the Johor Bahru Film Festival in October.
