LENGGONG (Dec 20) : The Lenggong District Council, in partnership with Think City, has officially launched the Lenggong community centre on Saturday. The community centre (formerly the district chief’s office) has been opened since August and acts as a multipurpose space that could host various programmes such as workshops and training sessions.
The centre is part of the Lenggong Valley Sustainable Community Development Programme (LVSCD), a capacity-building programme, initiated by Think City in 2023 with the support of Yayasan Hasanah, that focuses on strengthening awareness and understanding of Lenggong’s heritage.
Lenggong was recently recognised as a Unesco Global Geopark in September while Lenggong Valley was recognised as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2012.
During the launching ceremony, Think City managing director Datuk Hamdan Abdul Hameed said, “Through a collaboration between Think City and the Lenggong District Council, this building has been given a new lease of life and restored as a community space for sharing ideas and building initiatives to strengthen the liveability of the Lenggong community.”
