George Town: A City In Transition – Roundtable And Report Launch

Date: Fri, 19 November 2021
Location: George Town

In 2009, Think City pioneered the methodology for a population and land use census of the George Town World Heritage Site (GTWHS). The census report represents an extensive, decade-long endeavour to monitor and understand the changes to GTWHS in a robust manner.

Whilst the George Town World Heritage Site Population and Land Use Census 2009 – 2019 looks back 10 years, Scenario Planning: Possible Futures For Penang’s Economy In 2030, looks ahead to forge the future of Penang in the next 10 years. While goals and strategies have been laid out in the state’s Penang2030 vision, the report opens our minds to the possibilities and empowers us to be ahead of the curve.

Think City debuted both the George Town Population and Land Use Census: A City in Transition (2009 – 2019) and the Penang Scenario Planning Report at the George Town: A City in Transition Roundtable and Report Launch event. The reports were launched by YB Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy.
