Climate Resilience

Programme

As climate change continues to pose significant challenges, our city is increasingly vulnerable to its impacts. We face unique risks, including extreme weather events, heatwaves, flooding and rising sea levels, which threaten our infrastructure, public health, and overall quality of life.

To address these challenges, in Think City, we have a dedicated climate resilience team. This team enhances our city's ability to withstand and recover from climate-related impacts, ensuring a sustainable and secure future for all residents.

"Adapting to climate change is key to creating livable cities. By integrating nature back into our urban fabric and strengthening our resilience, we craft vibrant, thriving communities. This harmonious blend ensures our cities remain safe, healthy, and enchanting sanctuaries amidst the challenges of a changing climate."

Comprehensive Vulnerability Baseline Assessment

Our team conducts comprehensive vulnerability baseline assessments to identify the specific gaps in our city's infrastructure, communities, and ecosystems. We analyse data related to climate projections, socio-economic factors, and environmental conditions to develop a detailed understanding of potential impacts. Based on these assessments, we create actionable plans to address vulnerabilities and enhance resilience.

Climate Adaptation Planning

We create strategic plans tailored to the specific needs of our city. These plans include actionable steps to mitigate risks and improve community resilience. We integrate climate adaptation approaches into urban planning and development strategies, focusing on Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) by introducing green and nature-based infrastructure such as urban green spaces, wetlands, and vegetated rooftops. These solutions help manage stormwater, reduce urban heat island effects, and enhance biodiversity while providing multiple benefits to communities.

Policy and Advocacy

Our goal is to create an evidence-based recommendations policy environment that supports sustainable development and prepares communities for future climate-related challenges. Through strategic collaboration with local/ state authorities, policy development, advocacy campaigns, stakeholder engagement, monitoring, and capacity building, we aim to integrate resilience into urban planning and policy-making processes, ultimately contributing to sustainable and resilient communities.

Our Strategy

Our approach to building climate resilience in our city is wholehearted and collaborative. We bring together experts from various fields, including environmental science, urban planning and landscapes, academia, engineering, and public health, to create comprehensive solutions.
By focusing on these key areas, our climate resilience team is committed to transforming our city into a model of sustainability and resilience. Through strategic planning, community engagement, and continuous innovation, we aim to safeguard our urban environment against the growing threats of climate change, making our cities more liveable and thriving for future generations.
